Scatman Crothers

Benjamin “Scatman” Crothers (b. Terre Haute, May 23, 1910 – d. Van Nuys, California, November 22, 1986) – Actor, singer, and dancer. After getting his start as a fifteen-year old drummer in a speakeasy in Terre Haute, Scatman’s many talents led him to a long career in showbiz. His acting credits include roles in the sitcom Chico and the Man and feature films like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and The Shining. He was also the voice of the title role in Hong Kong Phooey and of Meadowlark Lemon in the Harlem Globetrotters (animated series).
