The Hoosier Hotshots

The Hoosier Hotshots – Formed in Arcadia (about twenty miles North of Indianapolis), the Hoosier Hotshots was a novelty group that performed on a hodgepodge of instruments (clarinet, guitar, bass, washboard, slide whistles, and various noise makers) in a comedic/rural fashion. Active from the 1930s to the 1970s, the Hotshots played at first on Indiana radio stations and later gained national exposure. Lastly, they recorded over 250 records and appeared in over twenty films. Although not a true jazz group, the Hoosier Hotshots performed most of their selections in a swing style with comedic lyrics.
