Victoria Wilson-James

Victoria Wilson-James (b. Gary - ) -- Singer, songwriter, producer, and actress. Born and raised in Gary, Victoria Wilson-James is a British American R & B singer, who charted a couple singles in the U.S. and the U.K. in the '80s and '90s. In addition, her debut album, Perseverance (Epic, 1991), peaked at #55 on the Billboard R & B chart. Her second album, Colorfields, came out on Dance Pool (a dance label of Sony) in 1997. Her third album, The Rapture, was self published in 2013. Recruited by Jazzie B, she also a member of Soul II Soul, which won two Grammy awards and three Soul Train awards right before Victoria and another Gary native Kym Mazelle joined the group. In 1993, she became lead singer of Shamen, a UK electronic dance band, which recorded some hits. Around the same time, she appeared in musicals in the UK.
