P-Nut Wills (311)

Aaron Charles “P-Nut” Wills (b. Indianapolis, June 5, 1974 - ) – Bassist and songwriter. Although born in Indianapolis, “P-Nut” got his start while a teenager living in Omaha, Nebraska. Along with four other Omaha teens (all a few years older than he), he joined the band that became known as 311. In spite of its humble beginnings, 311 broke into the mainstream in 1995—coinciding with a move to North Hollywood—and has recorded twelve studio albums. Enjoying a large fan base, the band has had numerous hits including “Down” (1995) and “Love Song” (cover, 2004), both of which went to #1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart. Since 2000, 311 has performed a monumental live show every other year in New Orleans on its special day, March 11 (3/11). In recent years, 311 has been the featured band on an annual Caribbean Festival cruise. In addition, its self-tiled album of 1995 (also called the “Blue Album”) went triple platinum. The style of the band varies considerably, as they fuse elements of alternative rock, punk, reggae, ska, funk, and rap. Known for his funky slap-bass technique, Wills’ nickname derived from the fact that he used to use a “P” bass, which—according to his band mates—he plays like a “nut.”
