Sara Melson

Sara Melson – Actress, singer, songwriter, pianist, and guitarist. The daughter of two Purdue professors, Sara Melson grew up in West Lafayette and got turned on to music from her parents’ collection of rock LPs from the 1960s and 1970s. After receiving formal piano training, she learned to play the acoustic guitar and soon began writing songs. She describes her style as folk-rock. In 2003, Melson self-produced a five-song EP that became a “Top Ten Pick” on Launch/Yahoo’s Cool as Folk radio broadcast. Songs from the EP were picked up by radio stations—including XM Satellite Radio-and were heard on ABC’s Men in Trees, Viacom’s South of Nowhere, and an independent film called Spectres. In 2008, she released her first full-length CD called Dirty Mind on Nettwerk Records. The first song on the album, which is titled “Feel it Coming,” appeared on episodes of Grey’s Anatomy and Lipstick Jungle. Also on Dirty Mind, “Anywhere, Anytime” was featured on a Chevy commercial. Currently, she gigs in Los Angeles and is active in the Beachwood Canyon Song Circle. Melson has probably been more exposed as an actress, appearing in several popular television shows, including Beverly Hills 90210, Frasier, the Wonder Years, Melrose Place, and Murder She Wrote. Her film credits include roles in Dr. Giggles, Malice, the Low Life, and the Big Brass Ring.
