Randy Jo Hobbs

Randy Jo Hobbs (b. Winchester, Indiana, March 22, 1948 – d. Dayton, Ohio, August 5, 1993) – Bassist. Born in Winchester, Indiana, Randy Jo Hobbs was a member of the Hoosier band The McCoys from 1965 to 1969. Along with Rick Derringer (leader of the McCoys), Hobbs played with Edgar and Johnny Winter from 1970 to 1976. In 1976, Hobbs played on Glass Derringer, a collaboration between Dick Glass and Rick Derringer. In 1968, he played bass on some live sessions with Jimi Hendrix. As a result, Hobbs’ playing can be heard on Hendrix’s Bleeding Heart (1994). At age 45, Hobbs died of a heart attack in Dayton and was buried in his hometown, Union City, Indiana.
