Kris Rose (The Ataris)

Kris Roe (b. Anderson, January 12, 1977- ) – Singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Along with guitarist Jasin Thomason, Roe founded the Ataris, a pop punk band, in 1995. Roe initially met Thomason, a Franklin native, at Karma Records in Greenwood, and the two started rehearsing in Roe’s bedroom. After releasing their first album on Kung Fu Records, they moved from Indiana to Santa Barbara, California, in 1997. After Thomason returned to Indiana shortly after the move, Roe struggled to keep the band going and endured several personnel changes. Alas, they have recorded four more albums (2 on Kung Fu, 1 on Columbia, and the most recent one on Sanctuary Records). An art photographer, Roe has taken many of the pictures for the band’s albums. The group's biggest hit was a cover of Don Henley's "The Boys of Summer," which reached #20 on the Billboard Hot 100. It happens to be on So Long, Astoria (2003), a certified Gold album.
