Sara Romweber (Let's Active)

Sara Romweber (b. Batesville, c. 1964 - d. 2019) -- Drummer. Indiana-born Sara Romweber re-located with her family to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and she became the drummer of Winston-Salem based rock band Let's Active at age seventeen. The band's first gig was opening for a fairly new band from Athens, Georgia, called R.E.M. in 1981. The lead singer and guitarist of Let's Active was Mike Easter, who co-produced R.E.M.'s first two albums. Although not getting much recognition in the mainstream, Let's Active had a large following, and Romweber stayed with the band through its first two albums (1981-84) before resigning after a tour of the UK. In 1985, she became a founding member of the band Snatches of Pink, based in Chapel Hill. Her last major project was playing drums in the eclectic Dexter Romweber duo, led by her younger brother. In addition to touring the United States several times, the duo released three studio albums and recorded at Jack White's Third Man Records in Nashville. Their albums were published by Bloodshot Records. Considered a very creative and talented drummer, Sara Romweber died of cancer in 2019 at age fifty-five.
