Jazz Kitchen

Jazz Kitchen – Since 1994, the Jazz Kitchen has been one of Indy’s top jazz spots, located at 54th and College in Broad Ripple. Owned and operated by trumpeter Dave Allee (son of Steve Allee), the Jazz Kitchen seats about 140 people in the dining room and around thirty in the lounge. Recently, Allee opened a new event space that seats around 75-100 people. Recognized as one of the top 100 jazz clubs in the world by Down Beat, the Jazz Kitchen offers high quality entertainment and high quality cuisine six nights a week (usually closed on Sundays). Typically, regular local acts are scheduled on Mondays through Thursdays, and special events are reserved for Saturday and Sunday. Additional early entertainment is sometimes offered on the patio on Saturdays (weather permitting). Regularly scheduled acts have included Frank Glover and pianist Claude Sifferlen, the Mid-Coast Swing Orchestra (from the Buselli-Wallarab Band), various groups featuring Rob Dixon (Wednesdays, pianist Steve Allee, guitarist Charlie Ballantine, and violinist Cathy Morris. In addition to the many local and regional artists who play at the Jazz Kitchen, national acts have also graced the stage; they include Harry Connick, Jr., Christian McBride, Bobby Broom, Joey DeFrancesco, Rufus Reid, Slide Hampton, the Yellowjackets, and Terrence Blanchard.
