Indianapolis Children's Choir

Indianapolis Children’s Choir – Founded in 1986 by artistic director Henry Leck (a Butler faculty member), the Indianapolis Children’s Choir has grown to include over 2,500 singers spread out over nineteen groups (grades 4-12) and early childhood programs (toddler through grade 4). While eight of the choirs meet at ICC’s home base at Butler University, satellite groups are in Brownsburg, Carmel, Indianapolis Eastside, Greenfield, Greenwood, Zionsville, Fishers, Franklin Township, and Lebanon. Furthermore, Associate Conductor Ruth Dwyer has developed the Columbus Indiana Children’s Choir, which includes two groups and has a partnership with the Columbus Philharmonic Orchestra. ICC groups often join forces with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, and they have also performed with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Canadian Brass, the Chieftains, Hoosier resident Sandi Patty, Celine Dion, Sylvia McNair, and Judy Collins. In addition to presenting a regular series of concerts, the choirs perform frequently in the community including appearances at sporting events, presidential visits, gubernatorial inaugurations, and various other civic events, celebrations, and remembrances. Touring is also part of the ICC experience, as groups have traveled extensively within the U.S. and have also ventured to Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Scotland, Switzerland, and Russia. Since Henry Leck's retirement in 2016, Joshua Pedde, longtime conductor with ICC, has been the artistic director.
