Charles Duble

Charles Edward Duble (b. Jeffersonville, September 13, 1884 – d. August 1960) – Composer and trombonist. Jeffersonville-native Charles Duble played trombone for twenty-three years in circus bands, including his first gig with Sun Bros. Circus in 1909 and stints with the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus, Sells-Floto Circus, 101 Ranch Wild West Show, Barnum and Bailey’s Greatest Show on Earth, and Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey’s Combined shows. Before and during his performance career, he composed works designed for circus band. Among his thirty-three published marches is the standard circus march “Bravura” (published by John Church, 1918).
