The McGuire Sisters

The McGuire Sisters – Vocal group. Born in Middleton, Ohio (Christine, 1926-2018); Dorothy "Dot," 1928-2012; and Phyllis, 1931), the McGuire Sisters were raised in Miamisburg, Ohio (south of Dayton). Originally a vocal trio devoted to religious music, the McGuire Sisters spent many summers in their youth at the Church of God campground in Anderson, Indiana. From 1952 to 1968, the McGuire Sisters—now converted into a vocal pop group—performed tirelessly, recorded prolifically, and made numerous television appearances. In fact, they signed a record-breaking contract with Coca Cola. Although the group officially left the entertainment world in 1968, Phyllis became a solo artist and all three sisters reunited on stage seventeen years later. Often compared to the Andrews Sisters, they danced as they sang their own arrangements of popular songs. Their best knows version were of "Sincerely" and "Sugartime." Along with Indiana groups the Four Freshmen and the Ink Spots, the McGuire Sisters are in the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.
