Amanda Perez

Amanda Perez (b. Fort Wayne, 1980 - ) – Singer and versatile instrumentalist. Born into a large musical family, Latino singer Amanda Perez began singing at age four and by age nine played drums with Sombra Chicana Chiquitos, a kids’ band that played locally during intermissions of performances by her uncles’ Tejano band called Sombra Chicana USA. As a teenager, she worked for her parents trucking business, but she was more interested in singing in talent competitions. In fact, she became the Female Junior Vocalist of the Year at the Indiana Black Expo in 1999. In 2002, Amanda wrote, performed and produced her first album entitled Where You At?, which was re-worked and re-named as Angel with Powerhouse/Virgin/EMI. The song “Angel,” her most successful single, peaked at #20 on the Billboard Top 100. In 2013, she released her fifth studio album Unexpected.
