Jason Wilber

Jason Wilber – Singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist (guitar, banjo, and mandolin). Bloomington resident Jason Wilbur started playing in bands at age thirteen and was soon on the road playing various styles of music. In 1995, he won the Chris Austin Songwriting Award and in 1998 released his debut album with Flat Earth Records. In addition to releasing eleven solo albums and touring extensively as a solo artist, he has played with numerous other folk musicians, most notably John Prine (see photograph above). In fact, Wilber has played lead acoustic guitar with Prine for twenty years and has joined him on the Letterman Show, Conan Show, the Grand Ole Opry stage, and the Austin City Limits festival. Further, he played an integral role in Prine’s Fair & Square, which won a Grammy in 2006. Wilber also plays on two other Grammy-nominated CDs by Prine. His playing can also be heard in the recordings of Hal Ketchum, Todd Snider and Greg Brown and fellow Hoosiers Carrie Newcomer and Tim Grimm. Aired on Bloomington’s WGCL, Wilber has broadcast a show entitled “In Search of Song” since 2005.
