Morris W. Hamilton

Morris W. Hamilton (b. Indianapolis, 1897 – d. ???) – Cornettist and composer. After studying cornet at the Metropolitan School of Music in Indianapolis, Hamilton enjoyed a successful performance career, highlighted by playing as a soloist with Arthur Pryor’s famous band. As of the mid 1930s (according to Indiana Composers: Native and Adopted [Indiana University, 1936]), Hamilton lived in New York, where he worked for NBC’s Music Supervision Department. He also composed and arranged for Hollywood films. Among his published works is the piano book entitled Tunes for Tiny Troubadors (G.P. Putnam and Sons).
