Robin Scott

Robin Scott – Violinist. A twenty-four year-old contestant in the 2010 Indianapolis International Violin Competition, contestant Robin Scott is the son of Beverly Scott, the assistant principal violist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra since 1981. Scott grew up in Indianapolis and has been a featured soloist with the ISO, the Carmel Symphony Orchestra, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, the Springfield (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra, Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestre National de Lille in France. After studying with Mimi Zweig in Indiana University’s Preparatory Program, Scott earned a Diploma Certificate at IU in 2006. His primary teacher in those years was Miriam Fried. A touring soloist and active chamber musician, Scott has been very successful in other violin competitions. He has won the California International Young Artists Competition and the WAMSO Young Artist Competition in Minnesota, and he placed second at the Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition, the Irving M. Klein International String Competition, and the Stulberg International String Competition. Since 2015, Scott has been first violinist of the famous Ying Quartet (see below), which is in residency at the Eastman School of Music.
