Gary LeMaster

Gary LeMaster (b. Ashland, Kentucky, September 20, 1942 -- ) – Guitarist. Gary LeMaster played with a group called the Jewels, which formed in Huntington, West Virginia, in 1959. As part of a tour in the following year, the Jewels stopped in Indy to play at the Indiana Roof Ballroom and Nick & Jerry’s, where they played periodically for a few years. Along with band mate Paul Hutchinson (saxophone), LeMaster settled in Indianapolis, where he joined a popular band Keetie and the Kasuals (formerly known as Keetie and the Kats) in 1963. At some point, he played with the Hollywood Argyles, which recorded the hit “Alley Oop” in 1961. LeMaster’s stay in Indy must have been somewhat brief because he served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 and then moved to Las Vegas, where he performed with the Nov-elites. In 1976, LeMaster formed a group that performed at Sam’s Town, where he was the Director of Country and Western music. From 1986 to 2006, he was the guitarist for the Sons of the Pioneers, a legendary Western Swing founded by Roy Rogers and others in 1933. Since then, he has played with the High Riders, a country band that plays regularly in Branson, Missouri.
