Bobby Lewis

Bobby Lewis (b. Indianapolis, February 17, 1933 - ) – Singer. Raised initially in an Indianapolis orphanage, Lewis moved to Detroit when he was adopted at age twelve. In the 1950s, he became an entertainer and worked with Soupy Sales. He also recorded with Parrot records, Spotlight, and Mercury. Recorded on Belltone in 1961, Lewis’s “Tossin’ and Turnin’” shot up to #1 on the Billboard and R & B charts and became song of the year; it later appeared on the Animal House soundtrack (1978). Also in 1961, his “One Track Mind” broke into the top ten. After achieving fame, Lewis made an appearance in 1962 with the Dick Clark Caravan of Stars at the Indiana Sate Fairgrounds.
