Forrest Tucker

Forrest Tucker (b. Plainfield, February 12, 1919 – d. Los Angeles, October 25, 1986) – Actor and singer. Plainfield natie Forrrest Tucker started performing at age fourteen at the Chicago “Century of Progress” World’s Fair. There, he pushed tourists’ chairs during the day and sang at night. Subsequently, his family moved to Arlington, Virginia, where the 6’5’’ Tucker completed high school. Following high school, he played semi-professional football in the D.C. area and shortly thereafter broke into motion pictures. After military service, be resumed a contract with Columbia Pictures. As an interruption in his film activities, he played Professor Harold Hill in a traveling production of The Music Man, which ran over 2,000 shows. Tucker’s greatest fame came via television, especially for his role as U.S. Calvary Sergeant Morgan O’Rourke in F-Troup (1965-67). Late in his career, he toured with Roy Radin’s Comedy Revue. In this show, Tucker told jokes as well as spun Irish stories and sang Irish songs.
