Eric Terwilliger

Eric Terwilliger -- (b. Bloomington, 1954 - ) -- hornist. Born in Bloomington, Eric Terwilliger was a follower of the Phil Farkas model of playing and eventually studied with him at Indiana University in his hometown. In the mid 1970s, Eric followed Michael Höltzel, a sabbatical replacement for Farkas, to German, where he has performed and taught ever since. In addition to winning solo competitions, he Terwilliger has held positions with major orchestras in Munich, Vienna, and Berlin, and, since 2006, he has been the principal hornist with the Symphonie Orchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. Not entering college teaching until rather later in life, Terwilliger has served as Professor of Horn at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz (1995-98), the Richard Strauss Conservatory of Music (1998-2007), and, currently at the Hochschule fur Musik und Theater in Munich.
