Carl Hahn


Carl Hahn (b. Indianapolis, October 23, 1874 – d. Cincinnati, May 13, 1929) – Conductor and composer. Indianapolis native Carl Hahn studied cello and piano at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. At some point, he played cello in an orchestra conducted by Theodore Thomas. Starting around 1900, he became a prominent choral and orchestra conductor in San Antonio and for a time led the Beethoven Maennerchor there. He later relocated to New York, where he conducted the Arion Society (1913-1918) and the Mozart Society. His choral works and songs were published in the United States and Germany.
