Sidewalk Prophets

Sidewalk Prophets – Christian pop/rock band. Formed in 2003 in Anderson, Indiana, Sidewalk Prophets came to full fruition shortly after David Frey and Ben McDonald (friends from Anderson college) put an ad in Craigslist for musicians, “who [want] to be poor and praise Jesus with us.” Born and raised in Terre Haute and a former member of the Maryland Community Church (south 3rd street), David Frey (2005 Anderson College graduate) is the group’s leader, one of the songwriters, and lead singer. Now based in Nashville, the band plays about 150 shows a year scattered throughout the country. Following a debut self-titled album in 2003, These Simple Truths came out on Word received a 2010 Dove award nomination for Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year. At the same award show in Nashville, the band actually won for Best New Artist of the Year. Records in 2009. The success of that album has been overwhelming, as two of its songs cracked the top twenty of Billboard Magazine’s Christian Songs.
