Dan Resin

Dan Resin (b. South Bend, February 2, 1931 - d. Wayne, New Jersey, July 31, 2010) – Actor and singer. South Bend native Dan Resin graduated from Indiana University in 1954 and furthered his education at Columbia University, where he prepared himself for a career in Broadway musicals. Additional preparation came at the American Theatre Wing through a Rodgers and Hammerstein Scholarship. While living in New Jersey with his wife Maggie in the mid to late 1950s, Resin worked as master of ceremonies at Broadway’s Roxy Theatre and Radio City Music Hall and appeared in Broadway musicals as early as 1956, when he played Freddie Eynsford-Hill in My Fair Lady. Up until the mid to late 1960s, he joined several Broadway casts including Once Upon a Mattress, Don’t Drink the Water, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, and Fade Out, Fade In. Off-Broadway credits include a lead role as Joe Hardy in a 1963 production of Damn Yankees at St. John Terrell’s Music Circus in Lambertville, New Jersey. Following his Broadway career, he made a living as an actor on film and television, especially known for commercials. Among the many comical characters he played on commercials throughout the 1970s and 1980s was the iconic Ty-D-Bol Man. As a film actor, he is best remembered for playing Dr. Beeper on Caddyshack (1980). Since semi-retiring from acting, he has become a Eucharistic Minister.
