Rob Costlow

Rob Costlow (b. Indianapolis, June 5, 1973 - ) – Pianist and composer. Born and raised in the Indianapolis area, Rob Costlow dropped out of piano lessons at age twelve because he lost interest in recreating music and had an undying urge to create his own. Following high school, he entered Ball State University as a Music Performance major before transferring to Indiana University and completing a bachelor’s and master’s in Kinesiology. During his graduate studies, he completed a solo new age album of original music called Sophomore Jinx in 2002. In 2005, he re-issued the disc on Tourist Records, which he started in 2002 as a business class project and officially named in 2004. Costlow continues to produce albums, sometimes adding electronically created parts to his piano compositions. Although his music is not true to any one style of music, he has won many awards as a new age artist. The albums Sophomore Jinx and Woods of Chaos were nominated for "Album of the Year" at the 2006 Independent Music Awards. In addition, the song “Forbidden” was nominated as "Song of the Year" at the 2009 Independent Music Awards.
