The Zero Boys

The Zero Boys – Punk Rock Band. Consisting of Paul Mahern (vocalist), David “Tufty” Clough (bass), Mark Cutsinger (drums), and Terry Hollywood (guitar), the Zero Boys was a popular punk band in Indianapolis from 1979 to 1993, not withstanding a hiatus between 1986 and 1990. On the strength of their Vicious Circle LP (1982), they attracted a large fan base and toured nationally with groups like the Dead Kennedys and Minor Threat. Before making a splash on the national scene, the band’s main outlet was Crazy Al’s in Broad Ripple (the current location of the Jazz Kitchen). Known for lightning-fast bass licks, Clough still hangs around Broad Ripple at his new clothing store called Future Shock. He also owns Radio Radio, a progressive music bar. A resident of Bloomington, Mahern own the label Affirmation Records and teaches yoga. In the last couple years, the band has played some shows—some at Radio Radio—and is planning to record a new album in 2008.
