Neal Doughty (REO Speedwagon)

Neal Doughty (b. Evansville, July 29, 1946 - ) – Keyboardist songwriter. Doughty is the only continuous founding member of REO Speedwagon, which formed in the fall of 1967 at the University of Illinois. While taking a course on the history of transportation at U of I, Doughty discovered the REO Speed Wagon, a truck made by REO Motor Company, thus giving their campus band a unique name. Among his most significant instrumental contributions in REO’s discography include a Hammond organ solo on “Roll with the Changes,” honky tonk playing in “157 Riverside Avenue,” and the Moog Synthesizer introduction in “Ridin’ the Storm Out.” Still going strong, REO and Neal have in recent years toured with contemporaries such as Styx, Def Leppard, and multiple times with Chicago.
