Reverend Peyton Band

Reverend Peyton Band – Blues Band. Fronted by slide guitarist/vocalist Josh Peyton, Reverend Peyton’s band offers a unique blend of Delta blues guitar riffs, powerful vocals, inventive lyrics, and a straight ahead shuffle beat carried by a bare bones drum set, washboard, and Rev’s thumb. The other members of the band are Josh’s wife Breezy on washboard and his brother Jaymie on set. A native of Eagletown, Indiana, Peyton formed his band—originally a quartet (with bass)—around 2002. Brown County had been the group’s home base, although several years ago, they sold everything and started traveling full-time. Since then, they have played all over the U.S. and Europe. Over the years, the band has toured with Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, Flogging Molly, the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Hot Buttered Rum. In spite of their busy performance schedule (over 250 shows a year), they have found time to record nine CDs of original songs, the most recent being Poor Until Payday (2018). Five of the albums have made it to the top five on the Billboard Blues Album chart. In 2008, ‘”Your Cousin’s on Cops” led to an appearance as the house band for a Jerry Springer Pay-Per-View special. Also in 2008. the band headlined Revstock, a festival in Ashland, Oregon. In addition, their music received exposure in the award-winning film Mississippi Cold Case (2007), which also included songs by Johnny Cash. Staying close to the roots, the band made annual appearances at Rib America and other events in Indianapolis, the city where he played his first gigs at the Melody Inn. In the fall of 2008, they returned to Indiana for Bloomington’s Lotus Fest, and the band headlined 2019's Blues Fest in Bean Blossom.
