David Katz

David Katz (Mishawaka, June 28, 1924 - 1987) -- Conductor. An alumnus of the Juilliard School of Music, David Katz founded the Queens Symphony Orchestra in 1953 and conducted the group until his death in 1987. He was also hired by Leopold Stokowski to be the Associate Conductor of the American Symphony Orchestra, which he led at Carnegie Hall from 1961 to 1970. Throughout his career, Katz was assisted in his artistic efforts by his wife Jeanne. In addition, his son Marc has taken over the Long Lake Camp, a fine and performing arts camp that David and Jeanne founded in 1969.
