Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – The following Hoosiers and Hoosier groups are members of the Rock and Roll (year of induction in parentheses): The Ink Spots (as “early influence” in 1989), Bill Monroe (as “early influence” in 1997), Jackson Five (1997), Michael Jackson (2001), David Lee Roth with Van Halen (2007), John Mellencamp (2008), Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin with Guns N' Roses (2012), and Janet Jackson (2019). Furthermore, blues man Jimmy Reed, who got his career on track while living in Gary, was inducted in 1991. Lastly, The O’Jays, whose musical director for twenty-two years was Indy’s own Harry Miedema, was inducted in 2005.
