Indiana Gregg

Indiana Gregg (b. Melissa Morrow, c. 1973, in Terre Haute - ) – Singer-songwriter. Raised in a strongly religious environment in Terre Haute, Melissa began writing songs in elementary school as an outgrowth of a poem-writing exercise in speech therapy. By singing poems with the goal of developing more normal speech patterns, Morrow developed a love for songwriting and composed prolifically between twelve and sixteen years old. After studying Physiology and Athletic Training at Indiana State University, she moved to France in 1994 and then onto England in 1995. Since then, she has traveled Europe extensively and has lived in France, Germany, Finland, England, and Scotland (her current home). Early in her European experience, she legally changed her name to Indiana Gregg, because everywhere she went she was called “Indiana.” “Gregg” is the last name of her second husband Lemar, whom she married in 2007. Starting in 2005, Gregg held “home concert” competitions in which fans around the world try to win the chance for her to perform a private concert for them. These concerts have been chronicled in part by Youtube and Myspace, and in 2007, Ukgigs began filming the events. In 2006, she embarked on a Starbucks tour performing acoustic sets in stores in all major UK cities. A year later, her debut album Woman at Work was released on GR8pop. The album includes thirteen original songs and a remake of Joan Osborne’s “One of Us.” Although most her songs are generally not overtly Christian, a sense of spirituality pervades her work.
