Tantric

Tantric – Categorized as a hard rock/post grunge band, Tantric formed in Louisville as a residual of Days of the New. When Travis Meeks (front man of DOTN) fired Matt Taul (Jeffersonville), Jesse Vest (Jeffersonville), and Todd Whitener (Louisville) in 1999, the three unemployed musicians teamed up with Hugo Ferreira, who had been singing with Merge in Detroit. Thus, Tantric was born. The group’s first two albums were with Maverick Records, and their hit single, “Breakdown” (2001) went all the way to #1 on the Mainstream Rock chart. Since then, the three from Days of the New have left the group along with some of the replacements leaving Ferreira as the only original member. To date, Tantric has recorded seven albums.
