Jody Fisher

Jody Fisher (b. South Bend ) – Guitarist, pedagogue, scholar and author. Born in South Bend, Jody Fisher spent his childhood moving around frequently. By age eleven, he was studying the guitar in the Chicago area. As a teenager, he took lessons from West coast players like Herb Ellis, John Collins, and Louis Speigner. He also received instruction from Stan Kenton via the bandleader’s famous workshops. Although Fisher has performed in a vast array of styles, he is primarily a jazz guitiarist based out of Southern California. His performance credits includes appearances with Big Joe Turner, Brandon Fields, Harry Connick, Jr., Bobby Troupe, Helen O’Connell, Bo Diddley, Drifters, Coasters, Ink Spots, Penguins, Shirelles, Spinners, the Association, Jan & Dean, Julie London, Betty White, Don Rickles, Phyllis Diller, and Rich Little. Under contract with Alfred Workshop Arts, Fisher has authored over 30 sets of jazz instruction books with corresponding CDs or DVDs. Fisher has also contributed articles to Guitar Player Magazine, Guitar World, Just Jazz Guitar Magazine, and Finger Style Magazine. Fisher has taught at the University of Redlands, University of La Verne, and the Idyll School of Music and the Arts (all in California).
