Scott Hostetler

Scott Hostetler – Oboist. Indiana native Scott Hostetler started playing the oboe at age eleven and became the principal oboist with the Kokomo Symphony Orchestra while still in high school. From 1991 to 1995, he played with the New World Youth Symphony Orchestra. Following high school, Hostetler studied oboe at the Cleveland Institute with John Mack, principal oboist with the Cleveland Orchestra. He furthered his studies at the Juilliard School of Music and at the Aspen Music Festival. Following a stint as principal oboist and artist-in-residence with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, he became the second oboist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2002. In 2008, he switched to English horn (the instrument pictured above). He is currently on faculty at Northwestern University and used to teach at the University of Illinois.
