Rudy Render

Ruby Render (b. Terre Haute, July 21, 1926 - d. Los Angeles, September 11, 2014) -- Singer, songwriter, pianist, and arranger. A music student at Indiana State Teachers' College (now ISU), Rudy Render played in clubs in his hometown of Terre Haute and wound up in Hollywood recording an R & B smash hit "Sneakin' Around" (originally by Mae Robinson) on London Records in 1949. Similar in style to Nat King Cole, Render's version shot up to #2 on the R & B charts; however, military service interrupted his music career. He later recorded some singles on Dot Records and Edison. In 1959, he co-wrote the title song for the film It Started with a Kiss, starring Debbie Reynolds. Thereafter, he worked as Reynolds' music director on stage productions and the movie the Unsinkable Molly Brown (1964). After leaving the music business in 1972, Render taught elementary school in North Hollywood.
