Trevor Bacon

Trevor Bacon (b. Roaring Springs, Kentucky, ca. 1907 -- d. South Carolina, April 14, 1945) -- Vocalist, guitarist, and banjoist. A Kentucky native, Trevor Bacon moved to Indianapolis as a teenager and discovered the scene on Indiana Avenue. While playing and singing with local bands, he was recruited by Lucky Millinder, when his band passed through Indianapolis in the early 1940s. Bacon then toured with the Millinder Orchestra, which settled in New York. Notable songs he recorded with Millinder include "Big Fat Mama," "When the Lights Go On Again," "Are You Ready?", and "Sweet Lumber." Bacon left the band with saxophonist Tab Smith, who formed his own group. Bacon also recorded with Tab Smith before being killed in a traffic accident in 1945. Records that Bacon sang on for both groups were carried by Decca.
