Bouncin' Bill Baker

Charles William “Bouncin’ Bill” Baker (b. 1928 – d. February 15, 2008) -- Radio personality and popular disc jockey at local dances. Born in Tarentum, Pennsylvania, Baker became a Hoosier at around age twenty-five and made his first appearance on Indiana radio with Kokomo’s WIOU. Around 1956, WIBC in Indianapolis hired Baker, who billed himself as “Bouncin’ Bill your early mornin’ poppin’ pill.” Host of the “Burnt Toast and Coffee Program,” he became the highest rated DJ in the city’s history, and Mirror Magazine voted him as DJ of the year in 1962. After helping establish the station as a pop music necessity, he left in 1969 to form Broadcast Productions of America. In 2004, he was inducted into Indiana’s Disc Jockey Hall of Fame.
