Ernie Haase (Cathedral Quartet and Signature Sound)

Raymond Ernest (Ernie) Haase (b. Cynthiana, Indiana, December 12, 1964 - ) – Tenor. From 1990 to 1999, Ernie Haase, who grew up in Evansville, was a member of the Southern Gospel vocal group called the Cathedral Quartet, a long-running ensemble that he admired as a child. After the Cathedral Quartet dissolved, he pursued a solo career and also sang with the Old Friends Quartet from 2001 to 2003. In 2002, he founded Signature Sound, a well-known quartet of which he is the tenor and featured singer. The other current members are Devin McGlamery (lead), (baritone), Dustin Doyle, and Paul Harkey (bass). (Haase is the only original member.) Two years after the group’s inception, they became known as Ernie Haase & Signature Sound. At the same time, Haase’s group signed with the Gaither Music Group and became a part of the "Gaither Homecomings" as well as performing and recording with the Gaither Vocal Band. In 2006, the subscribers to the Singing News Magazine (the leading publication in the world of Southern Gospel music) voted Signature Sound as the leading group of the year. In the same year, the group earned several nominations for Dove awards. Signature Sound has three Dove award wins, and Dream On: Live from Chicago was was nominated for a Grammy in the "Best Southern/Country/Bluegrass Album" category. Currently, his quartet is experiencing great success with their music videos and DVDs. Although Haase often performs in Indiana (particularly in the Gospel Mecca of Anderson), he lives with his wife in Stow, Ohio (between Akron and Cleveland). In fact, he created his own recording label called StowTown Records. Backed by piano, bass, drums, and guitar, the quartet has released twenty-three albums and nine DVDs, as well as appearing on eleven videos of the "Gaither Homecomings."
