Greg Galbraith

Greg Galbraith (b. Columbus, Indiana, July 29, 1946 - ) – Guitarist and steel guitarist. Raised in Columbus, Galbraith played in his first band, which was called Tommy Purcell’s Foot Warmers, during junior high school. As a senior in high school during the 1963-64 year, Galbraith played guitar with the Blue Angels, a very active Speedway-based group, which at the time played every Sunday for a sock hop in Greenfield. After graduating from high school, Galbraith moved to Nashville, where he played right away with Bill Carlisle at the Grand Ole Opry. After playing locally and on the road with Carlisle, Galbraith was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 but returned to Nashville after his discharge. In the early 1970s, he played mainly with George Hamilton IV and Bill Anderson. Soon after, he became a leading session guitarist in the city and has played extensively with Gene Watson since the mid 1970s. His work is also heard on albums by George Strait, Reba McEntire, Merle Haggard, Alabama, Glenn Campbell, and many other American and international musicians. Although he often plays lead electric guitar for his commercial work, he is a highly regarded steel guitarist and has played at international conventions devoted to that instrument.
