James Calvin Wilsey

James Calvin Wilsey (b. Logansport, July 12, 1957 – d. December 24, 2018) -- bassist and guitarist. Born in Logansport, Wilsey moved often because of his father's career in the military. The family eventually made their home in the St. Louis area. From there, James Wilsey arrived in San Francisco in the summer of 1976 to attend the Academy of Art College. He checked out the punk rock scene in San Francisco and soon became part of it. He played bass with two well-known acts in the San Francisco Bay area. At one end of the spectrum was the Avengers, a punk band that has been active sporadically (1977-79, 1999, and 2004 to the present). His other band was that of '50s throwback crooner Chris Isaac. Wilsey played on Issac's first four albums from 1985 to 1993. The most successful of those was Heart Shape World (1989), which went double Platinum. He also recorded an atmospheric solo album El Dorado on Lakeshore Records in 2008. At age sixty-one, Wilsey died of an apparent heart attack.
