Junior Brown

Jamieson “Junior” Brown (b. Kirksville, Indiana, June 12, 1956 - ) – Guitarist, singer and songwriter. Although Hoosier born, Junior Brown grew up in Cottonwood, Arizona. Since 1993, Brown has released seven studio albums, five of which have peaked between 32 and 73 on the country charts. His most recent one is Deep in the Heart of Me (2018). In 1996, his video for “My Wife Thinks You’re Dead” won Best Video at the Country Association Awards. In the aforementioned video, Brown is seen playing a double neck guitar with one standard six string and one lap steel, his own invention. In short, Brown is a well-known steel guitarist playing in both Hawaiian and traditional country styles with bluesy inflections. He has recorded with the Beach Boys and joined Bob Dylan on his 2006 tour of minor league baseball stadiums. In the summer of 2019, he did house shows in Texas, Nebraska, Arizona, and Idaho. His music made it onto the soundtracks of Me, Myself, and Irene and the Dukes of Hazard movie, which he narrates. Lastly, his voice is heard during a Sandy Cheeks rendering of “I Wanna Go Home” on an episode of Spongebob Squarepants called “Texas.”
