Phillip Martin

Phillip Martin – Saxophonist. Born in Indiana to Jamaican parents, Phillip Martin grew up in Broward County, Southern Florida. During high school, he excelled on the saxophone and was first chair in the all-state jazz band. Following, he went to Central Florida University and found himself playing with Sam Rivers (Grammy winner), Kirk Whalum (Grammy nominee), and Sounds of Soul. Next, he completed the dentistry program at Howard University in Washington, D.C., thus earning the nickname “Doc.” During that time, he joined the Marcus Johnson Project, which is under contract with Three Keys Music and has had success on the Billboard Charts. Mainly a smooth jazz artist, Martin released his first solo CD called Saxappeal in 2003. His debut release resulted in ample play on BETJ and The Weather Channel. Martin’s more recent solo effort is called Realization.
