Toradze Piano Studios

Toradze Piano Studio – Founded by internationally famous pianist Alexander Toradze in 1991, the Toradze Piano Studio at Indiana University/South Bend attracts promising and accomplished pianists from all over the world. Toradze’s students, who represent a mirage of nationalities, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the studio and receive first-class instruction from a pianist who has played with major orchestras worldwide. A specialist in the music of Russian Composers (including Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Mussorgsky, and Rachmaninoff) Alexander Toradze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, in 1952 and defected from the former Soviet Union in 1983. As a recording artist (primarily with Angel/EMI and Phillips), he is perhaps best known for his set of the five Prokofiev piano concertos that he recorded with Valery Gergiev and the Kirov Orchestra on Phillips. His students are on their way to successful performing careers themselves by touring collectively to major international cities, such as Salzburg, Berlin, Rome, Florence, Venice, Lisbon, and New York.
