Rayna Gellert

Rayna Gellert (b. Northern Indiana, December 15, 1976 - ) – Fiddle player and singer. Raised in Elkhart, Gellert grew up in a musical family, in which the father, Dan, played old-time music on the fiddle and banjo. A former member of the Freight Hoppers (an old-time string band), Gellert was the fiddle player and vocalist for Uncle Earl from 2003 to 2008. With that band, she recorded two albums on Rounder, one of them produced by John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin. Formed in 2000 as an all female Old-time band, Uncle Earl’s members are known as the “g’Earls,” whose fans are the “g’Earlfriends.” After leaving Uncle Earl, she focused on singer-songwriting and completed two solo albums on StorySound Records. Recently, she has toured and recorded with Kieran Kane (pictured above together) and released two albums with him. Gellert maintains a steady traveling performance schedule and has toured the United States, Europe, and Chile.
