Conte Candoli

Secondo “Conte” Candoli (b. Mishawaka, July 12, 1927 – d. December 14, 2001) – Trumpet player. Following the lead of older brother Pete, Conte joined Woody Herman’s Thundering Herds while still in high school and later played with many trailblazers on the West Coast scene, among them Stan Kenton, Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon, and Gerry Mulligan. Conte is best known for his 20-year tenure (1972-1992) with Doc Severinsen’s Tonight Show Band.
