Vocal Group Hall of Fame

Vocal Group Hall of Fame: The Vocal Group Hall of Fame includes the following groups that formed in Indiana (year of induction in parentheses): the Ink Spots (1999) in Indianapolis, the Jackson Five (1999) in Gary, the Four Freshmen (2001) at Butler University in Indianapolis, and the Spaniels (2005) in Gary. Hoosiers have figured prominently in the history of other inducted groups such as the Spinners (1999), which included former musical director Allen “Turk” Burke and former keyboardist Rodney Steep (both from Indianapolis); the Del Vikings (2005) with long-time member David Lerchey from New Albany; the O’Jays (2004), whose former musical director Harry Miedema has lived most of his life in Indianapolis; and the Letterman (2001), which Indianapolis native Darren Dowler joined in 2001.
