Jim Dowell

Jim Dowell – Singer, songwriter, producer, and manager. A well-known Nashville songwriter and manager, Jim Dowell is from New Albany, Indiana, where he was a star athlete in high school. He went Indiana University with plans to be baseball pitcher. As a “Music Row” songwriter, Dowell is best known for “Headed for a Heartache,” which Gary Morris had a top-five country hit with in 1981. Dowell has owned his own publishing company and management company and has represented such acts at the Wright Brothers and Sammy Kershaw. In fact, he helped secure recordings deals with Mercury Records for both of them. Another artist he signed was Kent Blazey, who has worked closely with Dowell over the years on various projects and has written hit songs that have been recorded by Garth Brooks, George Jones, Johnny Cash, Kenny Chesney, and John Michael Montgomery. Currently, Dowell also works in Real Estate.
