Dirk Hamilton

Dirk Hamilton (b. Hobart, August 31, 1949 - ) -- Singer, songwriter, and guitarist. Dirk Hamilton was raised in Northern California and moved to Los Angeles in the mid to late 1970s. After his move to L.A. he released four albums (two on ABC and two on Elektra). Produced by Gary Katz (famous through his work with Steely Dan), his first one was You Can Sing on the Left or Bark on the Right. Although his early albums received positive reviews, poor sales prompted Hamilton to leave the business around 1979 and become a counselor for adolescents. He returned in the mid to late '80s to perform in L.A. and record more albums. To date, he has released seventeen albums. In the late '80s, he discovered that he had a following in Italy and started performing there. In fact, he acquired an Italian backing band called the Bluesmen, with which he still tours Italy in the summer months.
