Ron Miles

Ron Miles (b. Indianapolis, May 9, 1963 - ) -- Trumpet player, cornet player, flugelhorn player, and composer. At age eleven, Miles moved with family to Denver, where he attended East High School. He then matriculated at the University of Denver (1981-85) and the Manhattan School of Music (1986). Fresh out college, he recorded his first of eleven solo albums in 1987. In addition, he has collaborated on ten CDs with the legendary guitarist Bill Frisell on such labels as Nonesuch, Blue Note, Savoy, and Yellowbird. He has also played a sideman with saxophonist Fred Hess, clarinetist Ben Goldberg, and, most recently, with saxophonist Joshua Redman (Still Dreaming, 2018). In addition to his national prominence, he is a leading jazz musician in Denver, where he teaches at Metropolitan State University. He is also a member of the Colorado Jazz Hall of Fame.
