Ben Davis

Ben Davis (b. Ames, Iowa, July 15, 1975 - ) – Baritone and actor. At age two, Ben Davis moved to Indianapolis, where he grew up and eventually started singing. A three-sport athlete, Davis did not show any interest in music until playing Riff in a high school production of West Side Story. From that point on, he wanted to pursue music theatre as a career and studied voice at Butler University with Steven Stollen, the managing director of the Indiana Repertory Theatre since 2006. Next, he toured the country from 1997 to 2001 with a production of Les Misérables. In 2002, he played Marcello in Baz Luhrmann’s Broadway production of La Bohéme, which won a Tony Award and was recorded on CD. Also on Broadway, Davis performed a lead role in a production of the musical Thoroughly Modern Millie in 2002 and then returned to La Bohéme in Los Angeles, his home since 2004. In 2006, he played Papageno in a modern film version of the Magic Flute and appeared in various musical productions in the Los Angleles area. As of January 2009, he is touring with Monty Python’s Spamalot. During a break from Spamalot, Davis performed in Indianapolis for Steven Stolen’s “An Evening with my Friends” at the Woodstock Club, a fundraiser for Stolen’s Meridian Song Project.
