Earth Sleds are physically incapable of leaving the surface of the ground under their own power. If momentum would normally take a regular vehicle over a jump or careening over a cliff, the Earth Sled makes a sudden, jarring turn downward to keep itself attached to the ground at all times. This equates to any check to voluntarily jump off the ground automatically fails and any check that would require a jump to avoid a crash is increased by +5 as the Earth Sled makes the jarring flip forward.

CONSTRUCTION:

Requirements: Craft Wondrous Item, Bind Elemental, Stone Shape

Cost: 7,000 gp and a Khyber dragonshard worth at least 5,000 gp

This heavy wooden sled is 30' long by 15' wide. Instead of wheels, the platform is supported by two long metal sleds that are carved with runes. It is through these sleds that the earth elemental, bound in the elemental helm, is able to channel its energy to allow the sled to move along the ground at a steady 6 miles per hour, regardless of the terrain. Typically, Earth Sleds are not built with a top or covering and has very little in the way of walls or railings. However, the only reason why an Earth Sled would have trouble going along the bottom of the ocean is that its driver needs to breathe, not because of any structural problem. When House Orien create the first of these sleds, it was to ferry Brelish troops along steep mountain passes where climbing would slow the troop movement down.
